Keeping quiet and staying private is pretty hard to do in the world surrounded by social media. Even one of the world’s most famous people was able to keep her pregnancy under wraps. And you know who I am talking about, Kylie Jenner. Let’s be real, some of her photos were leaked and we did see some of what looked like a baby bump. But at the end of the day she never said anything about it until she felt it was right. For me, no one but my closest friends and family knew about my next move. That’s because I didn’t really feel the need to tell the world about what I was doing until I knew that it was set in stone and it was the right time.
Let’s go back to Kylie Jenner. I mean she waited until Super Bowl Sunday to announce the birth of her baby. She knew what she was doing. It was all strategic. When you are thinking about posting things, you should think about when and where is the right time. Posting what you do all the time is not necessarily always right.
· Pick a time and a day: to better understand when the right time is, you have to understand social media. The best time is when your social media is the most active
· Pick the best platform to break the news first: some people have more followers on different social media so when breaking some news, pick one you know it will spread on faster. Then you can post on the other ones after that.
· Tease your post: this is the best way to get people engaged, especially leading up to some of your biggest posts.
And don’t fall into the belief that you have to post everything. I know social media is more about posting your life and it’s a window into what we do every day, however I feel like you need to leave some mystery to your life. Letting people know can either be a good thing or bad thing. You’re either going to have people who are willing to help you, or you are going to have people who are willing to bring you down and do whatever they can to make it hard for you to make that move.
You will know when it is the right time to share your good news. Just like Kylie, she waited until a day she knew everyone would be tuned in. A day when social media would be popping, and all the TVs would be on. And you know who else profited from Kylie’s big announcement? Her sister, Kim Kardashian. She gave the world a little peak of her new baby girl, Chicago. I’m telling you, it’s all a strategy. That’s why I said profit. Go back and look at Kylie’s announcement video. You’ll see a lot in it that will make you go, “oh she didn’t pick this day by random.” And that’s why you have to be strategic too.
Someone is always praying on your downfall. But it’s up to you to prove them wrong. Not everyone needs to know what your plans are or every little detail about your life. You should always move in silence. Make them wonder what you are doing and where you have been. At the end of the day, your success is going to come, you just have to focus on it and not let everyone in. Remember, God will show you the way.
